4-27-16 – XLA awarded six month sole-source task order with the Joint Improvised Threat Defeat Agency (JIDA)

XLA is proud to announce it has been awarded a six (6) month sole-source task order against their GSA Professional Services Schedule with the Joint Improvised Threat Defeat Agency (JIDA) for Mission Support Services. For more than seven years XLA has directly assisted with the maturing of acquisition, configuration management, administrative processes and core procedures, helping JIDA leadership to focus efforts on the war fighter on the ground.


JIDA continues to lead our nation’s defense efforts against improvised explosive devices and threats. As recently as 2014, JIDA expanded its mission to also include the identification, coordination, and advocacy of efforts to defeat improvised threats. In 2016 the Department of Defense formally announced JIDA’s transition and organizational realignment under the Defense Threat Reduction Agency (DTRA) which is expected to be complete by October 1, 2016. It is this expanded mission and alignment under DTRA that sets the authority for JIDA to focus on these improvised threats. In addition to IEDs, JIDA will turn its attention to tactics and techniques used by the enemy to create new and effective improvised threats. The agency may require improvements to human analysis, technology to capture and track people through social media, capabilities to defeat advanced wireless signals, and increased response to neutralize homemade explosives from remote platforms.


During this transition period, JIDA identified several critical mission-support contractor services to continue, specifically in the functions of program management, acquisition life cycle services, configuration management, and administrative and organizational effectiveness support. Since 2009, XLA has staffed JIDA with seasoned and experienced individuals with the ability to work independently and provide quick reaction to the challenges and risks that JIDA faces daily.

4-12-16 – XLA Launches New Website! XLA employees gathered April 12th, at the Kipton Hotel Monaco Washington D.C. in celebration of our brand new website!

The unveiling of the website included a social event with hors d’oeuvres as well as a presentation by our CEO, Gary Slack. XLA is proud to offer a more user friendly website where you are never more than two clicks away from your destination. The new website includes case studies and solutions which are high-quality, agile and cost effective solutions in response to client challenges. The website also has a tab for our “Gives Back” program, which includes pictures and a summary of our philanthropy events. Other sections will include contracts, an employee portal, insights (which will be our brand new blog), and much more! We are thrilled about our new website launch and the step forward we are taking. 4-8-16 – XLA Lends-A-Hand Kicks off First CAFB Event – Friday, April 8th

XLA Lends-A-Hand kicked off their first volunteer event last Friday, April 8th at the DC Capital Area Food Bank

Twelve XLA volunteers sorted through 6,000 lbs. of items donated by the community in under 2 hours, great work team! At the end of the event, volunteers were educated about the low donation amounts during the Spring and Summer months. The CAFB receives an influx of donations during the Winter months when food drives are more abundant. It is during the warmer times of the year that the CAFB struggles the most to keep pantry items stocked and meal service programs running. XLA urges our employees to give back by donating unopened, nonperishable food items to either the DC or NOVA CAFB Warehouses.
